I've always liked maps; they can tell so many stories. Here's a poem that reflects on a life before GPS...

It tells the truth by lying, like a poem

With bold hyperbole of shape and line ---

A masterpiece of false simplicity.

Its secret meanings must be mulled upon,

Yet all the world is open to a glance.

With colors to fire the mind, a song of names,

A painting that is not at home on the walls

But crumpled on a station wagon floor,

Worn through at folds, tape patched

and chocolate smudged

(What other work of art can lead you home?)

--- A map was made to use.
